BELIEVE IN BETTER COMPETITION: MAY 2025
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
1. Entrants
1.1 The Competition is open to all residents of South Africa.
1.2 Directors, members, partners, agents, consultants, tenants or employees of WWF-SA Babanango Game Reserve or Sealand Gear (Pty) Ltd and their immediate family members are not eligible to enter this competition.
1.3 This competition will not be open to persons under the age of 18.
1.4 By entering this competition entrants accept the full terms, conditions and rules of this competition and agrees to abide by these rules and any requirements and/or proceedings issued by WWF-SA in regard to the competition.
2. Term
2.1 The competition opens on 13 May 2025 and closes at midnight on 27 June 2025.
3. The Prize
Prizes for this competition will be allocated:-
A: to Photographic Submission Winners:
3.1 The first Prize is a photo expedition with a professional photographer who will accompany the first prize winner and their guest on a trip who will share photographic tips and expertise, details of which are as follows:
3.1.1 one voucher for a two consecutive-night stay for the winner and one guest, in one room Madwaleni River Lodge in the Babanango Game Reserve in KwaZulu-Natal.;
3.1.2 the prize must be redeemed and the trip completed on or before 1 July 2026, however it may not be taken during peak season or long-weekend dates;
3.1.3 the winner must provide proposed dates to WWF-SA to redeem the prize, to enable WWF-SA to make the necessary arrangements with Bananago and the photographer.
3.1.4 the prize includes accommodation (as set out in 3.1.1. above) private airport transfer, gourmet welcome snacks and beverages, full board dining including breakfast, lunch and dinner (including tea, coffee and soft drinks) and one game drive per day, provided by the venue;
3.1.5 the prize excludes air transport to the prize location or any additional activities or experiences that may be available at the prize location, these will be for the winner’s own cost..
3.2 Four runners-up will each be awarded one Sealand Gear Recycled Large Buddy Backpack, with a total value of R2 695.00 per backpack.
B: Voting on Photographic Submission Entries:
3.3 The prizes for winners of voting entries will consist of 3 WWF-SA shop vouchers, each to the value of R5 000.00, to be awarded to the 3 winners respectively.
4. Entries by:
A: to Photographic Submission Entries:
4.1 submitting photographs compliant with the criteria in paragraph 6 before midnight on 6 June 2025 to WWF-SA’s Facebook, Instagram or TikTok accounts as follows:
4.1.1 Facebook: Post your photo in the comments of a WWF competition post on the WWF South Africa account and comment #BelieveInBetter
4.1.2 Instagram: Post your photo on your Instagram feed, tag the @WWFSouthAfrica
account and use #BelieveInBetter
4.1.3 TikTok: Post your photo on your TikTok account, tag the @BelieveInBetter
account and hashtag #BelieveInBetter
4.2 Entrants may enter the competition multiple times, but will only be eligible to win one prize.
B: Voting on Photographic Submission Entries:
4.3 voting for their favourite images (up to a maximum of 3 per votes for different photographic entries), and submitting their email address to the voting website.
5. The Winner
A: to Photographic Submission Winner:
5.1 All valid entries will be adjudicated based on the criteria in clause 6 below, by a panel of judges approved by WWF-SA, and 20 finalists will be shortlisted.
5.2 The shortlisted images will be showcased on the competition landing page explore.wwf.org.za/believe-in-better-photo for crowd voting, which will take place from 12 June to 27 June 2025.
5.3 The prizes will be awarded based on the highest number of votes received (by the first prize winner and runners-up) through the voting process, which will be overseen and certified by an independent auditor, accountant, attorney or advocate.
5.4 The winners will be notified via direct message on the social media platform on which they have entered, 48 hours after votes have been counted and verified.
5.5 The winners must accept the prize and notify WWF-SA within 24 hours of their acceptance, failing which they will forfeit the prize and the shortlisted entry with the next highest number of votes will be awarded the prize.
5.6 Winners will be announced on 2 July 2025.
B: Voting on Photographic Submission Winner:
5.7 The Prizes will be awarded to 3 entrants drawn at random (overseen by an independent auditor, accountant, attorney or advocate), drawn on 30 June 2025 and the Winners will be notified by WWF-SA via the email address they entered with, within 24 hours of the Prize draw.
5.8 If the email address provided by the entrant is not valid, or the winner does not accept the prize and notify WWF-SA by responding to the email within 24 hours of sending the email to the winner, they will forfeit the Prize, and another winner will be selected on the same basis.
5.9 Winners will be announced on 2 July 2025.
6. Photographic entry image criteria and guidance
6.1 Your submission must reflect the challenge “Believe in Better”, show us your vision of a better future in South Africa. From iconic landscapes to everyday beauty and vibrant people, share what gives you hope for nature and people. Your submission must be creative (fresh and original), be impactful (evoking emotions or reactions and be thought provoking) and be from within South Africa;
6.2 Your submission must not be generated using Artificial Intelligence. Any use of software for post-production adjustments must be used appropriately and not with the intent to deceive the viewer or misrepresent reality and should faithfully represent the original photograph.
6.3 Your submission must not contain any content that is offensive, obscene, vulgar or morally or otherwise offensive, or which is contrary to the community standards of the platforms on which entries are submitted.
7. Other general terms:
7.1 WWF-SA takes no responsibility for any inability of an entrant to enter, complete, continue or conclude the competition due to equipment or technical malfunction, busy lines, inadvertent disconnection or otherwise.
7.2 The Prizes include postage / courier service to the winner’s given address, provided such address is in South Africa. In the event that the prize consists of a voucher, these will be sent to the winners by electronic mail. The winners must provide identification and sign on receipt of the Prize when it is delivered / delivery taken.
7.3 In the event that any Prize specified in the Competition becomes unavailable for any reason, WWF-SA may substitute a Prize of like or equal value.
7.4 In the event that for reasons beyond the control of WWF-SA, the draw or judging phase cannot take place on a date specified, WWF-SA will conduct the draw or judging as soon as reasonably possible and notify entrants of such new draw or judging date, and the notification of Winners will be amended accordingly.
7.5 The Winner may be invited to be photographed, interviewed or participate in other marketing activity conducted by WWF-SA. The Winner has the right to decline such invitation.
7.6 The results of the competition will be verified by an independent auditor, accountant, attorney or advocate selected by WWF-SA.
7.7 The Winner accepts the Prize entirely at their own risk and indemnifies WWF-SA in respect of any claim for any accident, injury, or property damage that may occur in connection with the Prize to the fullest extent allowed by law.
7.8 Where a Prize includes accommodation, the winner will ensure that they and their guests abide by all the terms and conditions of the venue where the Prize is provided / taken.
7.9 The Prize is exclusively for the Winner and is neither transferable nor exchangeable for cash or another Prize, and must be accepted by the Winner within the time periods stated in these terms and conditions of being notified of winning the Prize or they will forfeit the Prize.
7.10 Where a diligent attempt to contact the Winner fails or the winner elects not to take the Prize or is unable to take the Prize for whatever reason WWF-SA reserves the right to either select another Winner or not award a Prize at all, in its sole discretion.
7.11 By submitting an entry to the competition and using WWF-SA’s websites or social media platforms to publish entries, entrants warrant that such entries are their own original work and that they are the creators and owners of any intellectual property in such work and grant to WWF-SA the perpetual, royalty-free right, except where prohibited by law to use the design, get-up and contents thereof for any purpose whatsoever..
7.12 By submitting any entries containing any personal information of another person (as defined in the Protection of Personal Information Act no 4 of 2013), the entrant warrants that they have obtained the necessary consents, proof of which must be provided to WWF-SA upon request.
7.13 By entering this competition, the Entrant acknowledges that their personal information will be shared with the Promoter and its agents to the extent necessary to conduct the competition and for prizes to be delivered to winners.
7.14 By entering this competition and submitting your personal information, you authorise the Promoter to process your personal information in accordance with South African data protection and customer protection laws.
7.15 Entrants may request from WWF-SA details of their information held and to update and / or correct their information.
8. The Promoter

8.2 WWF-SA reserves the right, at any time, to verify the validity of any entry and to refuse the entry of any person who submits an entry that is not in accordance with these terms and conditions or who tampers with any process in redeeming the Prize.
8.3 WWF-SA may refuse the redemption of any Prize in the event of any irregularities or fraudulent activities.
