World Rhino Day

Donate to save our rhinos this World Rhino Day

The illegal wildlife trade remains an ever-present threat to rhinos in South Africa, and increasingly to other species such as elephants and lions. These iconic species are not only magnificent in their own right but they are also important for our economy. They attract tourists and create jobs in our important protected areas. Wildlife crime also affects people living around our parks by exposing them to criminals connected to international trafficking syndicates. This is why we need to work together for lasting solutions to the problem.

This World Rhino Day, donate to ensure our rhinos and wildlife continue to thrive for generations to come.

What is WWF doing?

  • WWF has been involved in species conservation and addressing the threats to wildlife since the 1960s.
  • Our influence in wildlife conservation policies assists in balancing environmental goals with social, political and economic needs.
  • WWF works to curb poaching by implementing innovative technology and building the capacity of government and community rangers on the ground. We also tackle illegal trade of - and demand for - rhino horn through advocacy and strengthening of local and international law enforcement to bring trafficking perpetrators to justice.
  • Through our Black Rhino Range Expansion Project we establish new rhino populations and move rhinos to areas where they can breed and thrive. Most recently,  as part of anti-poaching interventions, we have funded a large-scale dehorning programme in KwaZulu-Natal, which has reduced poaching by 80% in the Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park.

Donate to WWF and your donation will support the future of rhinos and wildlife in our country, for the benefit of nature and people.
